To become a UK licensed Close Protection Officer, you must first have completed and passed an SIA approved Close Protection Course with an approved / accredited training provider. For this we recommend our sister company ISTQ.

You do not require previous military or poilce experience to work as a Close Protection Officer. In the UK our awarding body guided learning hours equate to a minimum of 14 days

The course itself consists of varying elements which are assessed via a combination of practical (observational / visual) assessments, questions and answers, fully completed course workbook and by examination paper from the awarding body.

You will be required to pass assessment in the following aspects of Close Protection Operations and Operational planning as well as holding or completing a first aid qualification in order to apply for your SIA license to operate as a Close Protection Operative in the UK;

You will require a First Aid Certificate prior to applying for your license, we will be running a FAAW Level 3 course on the 8th May to the 10th May inclusive (3 days) for those requiring their first aid qualification.

We welcome those who have little or no previous experience in this industry as this course can become your starting point for a positive career change and to enter the private security industry.

You are also able to obtain discounted bolt on mini courses such as Firearms competency, FPOSi, Control and Restraint, Mechanical Restraints / Handcuffing, Defence against edged weapons and Investigations.
